About
This is a practical, evidence-informed continuing education course designed for massage therapists, estheticians, spa professionals, and wellness practitioners who want to use essential oils confidently and responsibly in client care. You’ll learn how to choose appropriate oils, apply correct dilution and dosage guidelines, and integrate aromatherapy into common spa services while prioritizing client safety, comfort, and professional standards. This course covers the foundations of essential oil safety, including routes of exposure, contraindications and precautions, sensitization and irritation, phototoxicity, and special considerations for pregnancy, children, older adults, and clients with complex health histories. We’ll also explore safe use in a spa environment, diffusion and inhalation best practices, topical application in massage and body treatments, hygiene and cross-contamination prevention, storage and shelf-life, and how to document and communicate aromatherapy use in a professional setting. *After completion a certificate will be emailed. For NY therapists: NCBTMB will send you a certificate in 6-8 weeks that will be used in the event of a NYS CEU audit.
