The middle of summer always brings back memories of a busy childhood. Endless days in the swimming pool, a school vacation that seemed to last forever, popsicles, staying up late….It was so fun. But as we get older, summer becomes less exciting and more…busy. And one of the first things to suffer is our sleep habits. I love using essential oils for assisting and supporting sleep. Either in a bedside diffuser, or as part of an evening topical lotion to help me relax! Enjoy this Sweet Dreams blend to help get some rest during these busy summer days. Stay well and happy blending!

Normally this time of year I like to feel inspired by certain oils that create an exciting, happy space. But lately the theme of grief seems so much stronger. So in times of deep reflection and sadness I like to turn to Frankincense. Latin name boswellia carterii, Frankincense has a deep resinous scent, almost “balsamic” in nature. It’s a middle/top note oil with earthy undertones. Renowned for millennia (and mentions in historical and biblical texts) for its healing and symbolic spirit, Frankincese evokes a grand presence. But is also offers soft comfort. It has powerful wound healing capabilities (both physical and emotional), supports the immune system, calms inflammation and eases headaches. Frankincense is a meditative oil that encourages us to reflect inward and embrace our grief and sadness, so that we may move gently of it when the time is right.

“The only cure for grief, is to grieve”-Earl Tollman

Diffuse a few drops in a diffuser, or add to a topical blend in a 2% dilution (10-12 drops/ounce of carrier oil or lotion).

Be peaceful and happy blending.

Spring is such an energetic and exciting time of year. Nature is flexing her wings and expanding and the energy is flowing! I love bright, effervescent oils this time of year, and I always revisit the florals! I love diffuser blends with Geranium, Lemongrass, Hyssop and Lavender. Florals tend to be emotionally supportive and act as tonics to the nervous system. Blending with some bright citruses, like Grapefruit, Mandarin or Sweet Orange can add some immune support and promote joy! Spring is such a great time to throw open the windows and do some cleaning, so making a household cleaner with essential oils adds a natural, earthy and healthy aspect! I love taking pine and balsam needles in a ball jar, covering in white vinegar and letting strep for a month, then I strain and add Spike Lavender and Lemon oil- the smell is heavenly, and it is a powerful cleaner with no toxic chemicals. Have fun with your blending and how to integrate it into your every day life! May your spring be filled with sunshine, flowers and some peace. Happy blending!
